“It is a great honour to be the first recipient of the Mark Wilkie Memorial Scholarship. I will continue to carry the spirit of kindness and compassion daily, especially as I venture into post-secondary studies. I aim to uplift and celebrate all of my peers and value their authenticity. The phrase “In a world where you can be anything, be kind” is something we can all reference every day. Thank you for recognizing me, I am incredibly appreciative to receive this scholarship.”

“I am incredibly honoured to be the recipient of the Mark Wilkie Scholarship for the Class of 2025. 

This award is an excellent reminder that small acts of kindness create lasting and meaningful impacts on the lives of others. 

As I begin my post-secondary journey in nursing, I will carry these values with me everyday as I strive to support those around me. 

Mark’s character and ability to make people feel valued, is something that we can all aspire to.

2026 ~ Brynn King

“I am truly honoured to be named the third recipient of the Mark Wilkie Memorial Scholarship.

What makes this especially meaningful to me is that I actually knew Mark – not well, and not for long – but through a childhood cancer fundraiser we were both part of. Even in that brief time, I saw firsthand the warmth he carried.

So now, to receive a scholarship in his name for living out the way he made others feel seen and valued feels like a full-circle moment I never expected.

As I head off to StFX, I will strive to continue Mark’s legacy by always showing kindness in the in-between moments”.
